Bionic Eye

In my Com 435 class, I wrote a critical paper about the "Bionic Eye." The Bionic I will allow you to have infer red vision, zoom in and out, get information about places and things that you are currently looking at, create virtual cross-hairs and holographic driving panels, it also allows you to surf the web and play video games. Basically it's like an iPhone, but instead of using a touch screen you are using your eyes....Oh yeah, it also gives sight to the blind. What I wrote about in my paper is the use of identity with cyborgs. Cyborgs can change how we as humans label ourselves, it can change how we think and do things, and could change our identity. All of which is a scary thought. Here is a video about how the bionic eye gives vision to the vision impaired. Giving the blind sight is what the bionic eye is used for now, but soon, all the capabilities that I've listed above will be available for everyone.

NCIS: Los Angeles

(Picture at www.buddytv.com)
I was watching NCIS Los Angeles on Tuesday. Although I've been watching this tv show since the beginning of the series I've just noticed how call the technology they use are. I guess being in Com 435 for so long I start paying attention to things I like that. Well, after that episode I wanted to see was the technology real, had it really been invented. Well, it has. ( Picture at www.knowfirst.wordpres.com) It's too long and complicated for me to explain, but I'll give a brief overview of what it is. So, one of the technology is like google map, but 3D and it's updated more often. Another one is like this huge iPhone, but on a projector screen. They have about 3-4 projector screens in the room, whatever item is on one projector screen, they can slide that item to another project screen with just the flick of their wrist. Tech Info Video.

Touch Screens...Grrrrr (Vent)

So, I have a IPod Touch and a phone which is touch screen and I always have problems with them. Touch screen is suppose to be the in thing right now, but it’s driving me crazy. I guess my fingers are moving too fast for my touch screen devices because they always freeze up. Also, when I press one button, the touch devices choose to press another for me. Not even joking, I go to the Verizon store at least twice a month with some problem with phone. My IPod I can stand the problems sometimes because it’s the very first generation IPod so it’s not up to date with the new systems that Apple has, but that’s the problem, that how they get you, and that’s what sucks about technology. You can NEVER stay updated.

Xbox: Project Natal

Introducing Project Natal, a revolutionary new way to play: no controller required. See a ball? Kick it, hit it, trap it or catch it. If you know how to move your hands, shake your hips or speak you and your friends can jump into the fun -- the only experience needed is life experience (xbox.com)

Whooooa! This is soooo amazing…and scary. When watching these videos and clips I just can’t help but think how far our technology has come and how quick it’s moving. It’s scary because if they can come up with this, what’s next? This could because I watch too many movies, but when I see these videos I always think of the movie “iRobot.” This new project makes me wondering if they are going to invent robots that would be soon smart enough to take over. Ahhhh!

“This is a pivotal momment that will carry with it a wave of change, the ripples of which will reach far beyond video games.”
-Steven Spielberg.

I <3 Blogs

Warning: I’m about to sound like a complete nerd, but whatever. I love blogging! Of course I’ve heard of blogging before my Com 435 class, but I never thought about making my own blog. As I was thinking of what to write for my first Com 435 blog post, I realized there’s so much that keeps my mind pacing, whether it’s something I’m pissed, confused, or just interested about, I can talk about it on my blog. I know no one is really going to read it, but the fact that it’s finally out of my head is great, and if someone does read it, that’s just magnificent. It’s very therapeutic. Also, it’s such a great and quick way to stay updated on certain topics.

Twitter: The Bridge Between the Worlds’ of Average Joes and the Worlds’ of Celebrities

Why do people do not like Twitter? I’m one of those people that have to stay connected with any and everything pop culture. Twitter helps me to do that. I’m able to figure out what “my friends in my head (said like Wendy Williams)” are doing.

If you check my twitter the only non celebrities that I follow are only 3 people, my sister and 2 of my friends. I only use twitter to stay updated with “my friends in my head.” I think I only posted one status tweet. Everything else has been tweets to the celebrities that I follow.

When people tell me that they do not like twitter either because they don’t understand how to use it or just don’t like it, I tell them why I use it. Most of them are still not convinced because they believe it’s really not the celebrity that’s tweeting. That’s true in some cases. Some celebrities have their PR tweet for them or it’s not them at all. It’s a fan or etc. Ohhhh! The deceptions in the virtually community; how it prevents you from doing great things.  In most cases, it is the celebrities that are actually tweeting. How do I know if the celebrities I follow actually are the ones tweeting? When I watch interviews on them most of them state it sometimes in some interview. That’s how I found out about Mariah Carey, P. Diddy, and Hill Harper (just a few “friends in my head” that I follow on twitter.).

The one scary thing about twitter, which a lot of celebrities had to face, is stalkers. Twitting where you been, where you are, and where you going to be, as a celebrity or anyone for that matter, is not the best idea in the world. For example, NBA player Derek Fisher who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, twitted about all the places he had been, was at, and was planning to go. An obsessed (Speaking of Obsessed, go buy MARIAH CAREY’S new album MEMOIRS OF AN IMPERFECT ANGEL. In stores now.) fan started claiming that she was his wife. She even showed up at events that he was at claiming that she was with him and they were married. Of course she had a restraining order put on her, but Derek Fisher is not and will not be the only victim of this.

Warning: People let’s be smart when we interact on these virtually communities. We do have insane creeps out there.

Here are a list of celebrities that are on Twitter. This list is a list of actual celebrities that are tweeting. Happy tweeting!

Beyonce's Very Own Wii Ftt Game

Our ever so changing, but wonderful technology is coming out with something, once again, creative and very much interesting. R&B singer, Beyonce Knowles, will be teaming up with “Wii Fit” to come up with her own workout game.

"I'd like to get involved in videogames since I really love Wii Fit," the singer was quoted as saying. "I think it would be a great idea to incorporate choreography because for me my workout is way more fun when it involves dancing as opposed to running on a boring treadmill. So I would love to do some kind of fitness game but incorporate dance and performance into it. I think a lot of women would enjoy that (www.gamespot.com).”

I don’t know if I would buy it because I’m not fund of the “Wii Fit” and workout videos, but I do like dancing. I never danced to substitute as a workout, so who knows. When Beyonce stays within her familiar, she never lets me down, so it might be great. Here's a link that talks more about it.

When I get more information about it I will let you all know.

What are you all thoughts about her new game? Yay or Nay?
